This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Albany is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Albany is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Everyone here is just so nice!! When we walked in the hostess was cracking jokes with us and our server Kaylie was prompt and on point with everything. She was attentive but not overbearing and so kind. Also very knowledgable about the menu. As a cafe owner myself who strives on top notch service she’s everything you want in a server as a manager/owner. While I’m not a fan of automatic tips on the bill I’m glad to see she is getting what she deserves and when we gave her double what was on the bill she was so appreciative that she got teary eyed. Hold onto her Boil Shack cause if my spot wasn’t an hour away, I’d steal her. And the food was on point!!! We each got a special. A king crab, lobster, and shrimp boil and a stuffed salmon dish with dill yogurt. Highly recommend. Ask for Kaylie!!

Cool atmosphere and delicious seafood. I tried the punish me hot crab legs and wow it was delicious πŸ˜‹ messy yes but worth it, yes. Clam chower was loaded w clams and had a ton of flavor. Crab cakes were great too! The staff was cool and very nice, thanking us a lot when we left. The robot delivery is also pretty sweet experience. If you're in the mood for seafood, give it a shot. A+

I ordered crab legs on Mother’s Day. All of the crab legs I received in my order was covered in barnacle eggs. Upon speaking to the owner he stated the new cook did not clean the crab properly because it was very busy. This is absolutely revolting and inexcusable. I will never order from here again. Do better and bring back Jeff!

Stopped in here while I was in town for work and had a pretty mixed experience. The atmosphere was nice and it seemed like a good spot to grab seafood, but the service was noticeably slow throughout our visit. It took a while to get drinks and place our order, and we found ourselves waiting more than expected between courses. That said, the food itself had some highlights. The crab was absolutely amazingβ€”fresh, flavorful, and definitely the standout of the meal. We also really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, which was well-prepared and hit the mark. Unfortunately, the mussels didn’t live up to the same standard; they lacked flavor and just weren’t our favorite. Overall, it’s an okay spot with some strong dishes, but the slow service and inconsistency in the food would make me hesitate before returning.
